Bicentennial

9 September 2026

From Moderator Brian Singer -

For the benefit of those members that were unable to attend the AGM, and as a reminder for those of us that were there, may I summarise the decisions regarding our upcoming Bicentenary in 2030:-

  • Thank you for all the suggestions that we have received before and during the AGM. We are keen to receive suggestions and feedback and look forward to hearing from you.
  • It is clear however, that as a Society, we want to celebrate our Bicentenary in a manner befitting the occasion.
  • The nature and extent of our celebrations are to be decided.
  • The Bicentenary Committee will reconvene and develop some options from the feedback received to date.
  • The decision to raise our annual level to £50 will enable this process and will be paid with the Annual Subscription.

A Bicentennial Sub Committee is exploring how we should celebrate the occasion during 2030. The Sub Committee seeks to ascertain the Society's vision for our Bicentennial, and to establish a funding commitment to enable budgeting. Suggestions are wide and varied. The Secretary has circulated a paper, and Members have been asked to feedback to Sub Committee members in advance of the AGM on 7 September 2026.

The newest updates will appear at the top of this page, as we approach 2030.
